Italian Appetizer (Antipasti) Recipes - Salami Slices (Fette di Saleme) Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 large Ciabatta loaf

  • 75ml/5 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 garlic clove, cut in half

  • 200g/7 oz olives

  • 224g/8oz Italian salami, thinly sliced

  • 225g/8oz Mozzarella cheese, sliced

  • fresh herbs, to garnish


Method:

  1. Cut the bread into slices about 2.5 cm/1 in thick. Brush the olive oil over both sides of the bread.

  2. Bake in a preheated oven at 190°C/375°F/gas mark 5 for 5 minutes or toast under a moderate grill (broiler). Rub garlic over one side of each piece of toast.

  3. Arrange the olives, salami and slices of Mozzarella on the toast and bake or grill (broil) until the cheese has melted.
