Italian Desserts Recipes - Figs Maria (Fichi Maria) Recipe

Ingredients                                     

  • 100 g/4 oz macaroons

  • 16 ripe figs

  • 8 sponge (lady) fingers

  • 100 g/4 oz vanilla ice cream, from a block

  • 30 ml/2 tbsp Marsala or Amaretto 4 cherries


Method:

  1. Grind the macaroons to a powder and peel and quarter the figs.

  2. Cut the sponge fingers in half and line small individual bowls with them.

  3. Add a layer of ice cream and a layer of quartered figs. Sprinkle with Marsala wine or liqueur.

  4. Cover with powdered macaroons and chill before serving. Garnish with a cherry.
