Italian Desserts Recipes - Stuffed Figs (Fichi Ripiene) Recipe

Ingredients                                     

  • 4 dried figs

  • 25 g/1 oz/1/4 cup ground almonds

  • 16 seedless raisins, finely chopped

  • 15 g/1/2 oz plain (semi-sweet) chocolate, grated

  • 15 ml/1 tbsp Amaretto


Method:

  1. Remove the stalks from the figs. Place a finger in the top of the fig and push to form a pocket.

  2. Blend the almonds, chopped raisins, chocolate and liqueur together.

  3. Fill each fig with the mixture and squeeze the tops together to seal.

  4. Place the figs in a baking tin (pan), open ends upwards and bake for 8 minutes in a preheated oven at 180°C/350°F/gas mark 4.
