Florentine Steak (Bistecca alla Fiorentina) Recipe
Ingredients

2 large sirloin or
rump steaks
-
5 ml/1 tsp olive
oil
-
15 ml/1 tbsp
chopped fresh oregano
-
2 large tomatoes, skinned,
seeded and chopped

Salt and freshly
ground black pepper
Method:

Heat the grill (broiler) and brush the steaks with
the oil. Lay the steaks on the rack and cook for 3
minutes on one side until the meat is sealed.

Meanwhile, simmer the oregano and tomatoes together
in a saucepan. Turn over the meat and season
well.

Cook
the meat for 3 minutes.
Remove from the grill, pour over the sauce and serve
immediately. The meat can also be cooked on a
barbecue.
