Italian Meat Recipes - Italian Meatballs (Polpettine) Recipe

Ingredients  

  • 450 g/1 lb/4 cups lean minced (ground) beef

  • 1 large onion, finely chopped

  • 50 g/2 oz/1 cup fresh breadcrumbs

  • 1 egg, beaten

  • 15 ml/1 tbsp chopped fresh herbs

  • 50 g/2 oz/1/2 cup sage and onion stuffing

  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper

  • Piquant Chinese Sauce, to serve


Method:

  1. Combine all the ingredients together in a large mixing bowl. Shape the mixture firmly into 18 balls.

  2. Put the meatballs in a greased ovenproof dish and cook in a preheated oven at 190°C/375°F/gas mark 5 for 25 minutes until browned.

  3. Serve with Piquant Chinese Sauce.
