Italian Pizza Recipes - Salami and Mozzarella Pizza (Pizza di Salame e Monzzarella) Recipe

Ingredients       

  • 15 ml/1 tbsp olive oil

  • 10 ml/2 tsp semolina (cream of wheat)

  • 1 onion, thinly sliced

  • 1 quantity Basic Pizza Dough

  • 25 g/1 oz salami, finely diced

  • 50 g/1/2 cup Mozzarella cheese, grated


Method:

  1. Prepare the pizza base. Oil a large pizza tin (pan) and sprinkle with the semolina.

  2. Heat the remaining oil in a frying pan (skillet) and add the onion. Cook over a high heat for 2 minutes until the onion is soft.

  3. Roll out the dough into a 25 cm/10 in round and place on the pizza tin. Cover with the onion.

  4. Sprinkle with the salami and top with the grated Mozzarella cheese.

  5. Bake for 10-15 minutes in a preheated oven at 230°C/450°F/gas mark 8.
