Tomatoes (Riso, Salsicce e Pomodori) Recipe
Ingredients
-
600 ml/1 pt/2 1/2 cups
water
-
225 g/8 oz/1 cup
risotto rice
-
15 ml/1 tbsp butter
-
1 large onion,
chopped
-
1 garlic clove,
crushed
-
400 g/14 oz/1 large
can of chopped tomatoes
-
225 g/8 oz beef
sausages
-
15 ml/1 tbsp oil
-
Salt and freshly
ground black pepper
-
1/2 green chili, seeded if liked
and finely chopped
Method:
-
Bring the water to the boil in a large
saucepan and add the rice.
Cook
for 10
minutes.

Remove from the heat and drain. Rinse the
rice thoroughly and drain again.

Heat the butter,
cook the onion and garlic until the onions are
brown. Add the tomatoes to the onion.

Meanwhile,
fry (sauté) the sausages separately in the oil and
when brown remove from the pan. Allow to cool for a
few minutes and cut into chunks.

Put the drained
rice in a large frying pan (skillet) and add the
fried onion and tomatoes. Add the sausages and mix
gently with a wooden spoon.

Season with the salt and
pepper and mix in the finely chopped chili.

Cover
the pan with a lid and simmer gently for 20 minutes,
stirring frequently.
