Italian Sauces Recipes - Piquant Chinese Sauce (Salsa Piccante Cinese) Recipe

Ingredients  

  • 15 ml/1 tbsp corn flour (cornstarch)

  • 5 ml/1 tsp soy sauce

  • 5 ml/1 tsp finely chopped fresh root ginger

  • 225 g/8 oz/1 small can chopped pineapple

  • 30 ml/2 tbsp brown sugar

  • 45 ml/3 tbsp wine vinegar

  • 2 celery sticks, finely chopped


Method:

  1. Blend the corn flour with the soy sauce. Put the chopped ginger and the crushed pineapple into a saucepan and heat until almost boiling.

  2. Stir in the sugar, vinegar and chopped celery. Gradually mix in the blended corn flour and cook, stirring all the time until the sauce thickens.

  3. Pour over meatballs or chicken and serve at once.
