Cheese on Toast (Formaggio al Forno)

Ingredients

100 g/4 oz hard
cheese, chopped

75 ml/5 tbsp white wine
-
30 ml/2 tbsp chopped
fresh basil

Freshly ground black pepper

4 thick slices
bread
-
5 ml/1 tsp unsalted
(sweet) butter
Method:

Place the cheese in an ovenproof dish. Blend the wine with the chopped
basil.

Pour the wine over the cheese and season
generously with the pepper.

Place in a preheated
oven at 200°C/400°F/gas mark 6 for
10 minutes until golden and bubbling.

Meanwhile,
remove the crusts from the bread, toast and butter
the slices.

Spoon the cooked cheese on to each slice
of toast.
