Ingredients

4 carrots, chopped
-
1 small cabbage,
chopped

2 onions, chopped
-
225 g/8 oz fresh or
frozen peas
-
225 g/8 oz fresh or
frozen broad (lima) beans
-
4 leeks, chopped
-
3 potatoes, chopped
-
225 g/8 oz bacon,
rinded and chopped
-
1.2 liters/2 pts/5 cups chicken or vegetable stock
-
6 small Italian
sausages, halved
-
Salt and freshly ground
black pepper
-
Fresh bread, to serve
Method:
-
Put the vegetables into a saucepan with the chopped
bacon. Add the stock and bring to the boil.
-
Reduce
heat and simmer for 1 hour. Add the sausages and
cook for 15 minutes. Season and serve in large bowls
with fresh bread.
