Italian Vegetable Dishes Recipes - Cheese Potatoes (Patate al Formaggio) Recipe

Ingredients                              

  • 5 large potatoes, scrubbed

  • 75 ml/5 tbsp hot milk

  • 25 g/2 tbsp unsalted (sweet) butter

  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper

  • 100 g/1 cup hard cheese, grated


Method:

  1. Cook the potatoes in a large pan of boiling water. Peel the cooked potatoes and, while still very hot, cut into chunks and place in a large bowl.

  2. Add the milk, butter and seasoning and mash together. Add the grated cheese and spoon the mixture into an ovenproof dish.

  3. Bake in a preheated oven at 190°C/375°F/gas mark 5 for 20 minutes.
