Italian Vegetable Dishes Recipes - Creamy Potato Bake (Patate Arrostite con Crema) Recipe

Ingredients                              

  • 900 g/2 lb potatoes, sliced

  • 600 ml/2 1/2 cups salted water

  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed

  • 75 g/3 oz Mozzarella cheese, diced

  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper

  • 150 ml/2/3 cup double (heavy) cream

  • 150 ml/2/3 cup milk

  • 50 g/2 oz/1/2 cup hard cheese, grated


Method:

  1. Boil the sliced potatoes for 8 minutes in the salted water. Drain and layer in an ovenproof dish.

  2. Sprinkle over the crushed garlic and the Mozzarella cheese. Season with the salt and pepper.

  3. Blend the cream and milk together and pour over the potatoes.

  4. Sprinkle with the grated cheese and bake in a preheated oven for 45 minutes at 190°C/375°F/gas mark 5 until set and brown on the top.
