Italian Vegetable Dishes Recipes - Mushrooms with Cheese (Funghi con Formaggio) Recipe

Ingredients         

                  

  • 450 g/1lb mushrooms

  • 25 g/1 oz/2 tbsp unsalted (sweet) butter

  • 300 ml/1 1/4 cups Basic White Sauce

  • 50 g/2 oz/1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated


Method:

  1. Remove the mushroom stalks. Using half the butter, grease an ovenproof dish and add the mushrooms.

  2. Dot with the remaining butter and bake in a preheated oven at 190°C/375°F/gas mark 5 for 8-10 minutes.

  3. Pour over the white sauce and sprinkle with the Parmesan. Return to the oven for 10-15 minutes to brown.
